GNU Guix reflects on one year since migrating from Savannah and email-based patch workflows to Codeberg for source code hosting, issue tracking, and pull requests. The post covers the consensus-building process (GCD 002) that led to the decision, the incremental switchover, challenges like setting up CI for pull requests, and contributor growth metrics. Key findings: contributor numbers kept growing but no dramatic 'Codeberg effect' was observed; a growing PR backlog persists partly due to the requirement for authorized committer signing; and project activity is now more legible through labels, CODEOWNERS, and CI bots. Future work includes expanding CI build capacity, addressing the AGit workflow requirement to manage storage quotas, and deeper Forgejo integration.
