OneAdvanced has launched Care Navigator, a 9-billion-parameter LLM built with Nvidia on NHS primary-care triage data. The model runs entirely within the UK, addressing NHS data residency requirements and concerns about sending health records to US-controlled clouds. Built on Nvidia's open Nemotron models, it claims up to 150x lower inference cost than frontier models like Claude while outperforming them on clinical-topic categorisation benchmarks. The model is trained on pseudonymised patient triage requests from OneAdvanced's Patchs platform, which handles ~500,000 monthly interactions. Key caveats include self-reported benchmarks, inconsistencies in which Claude models were compared, and ongoing scrutiny around training AI on patient data. The launch fits into a broader UK sovereign-AI push following London Tech Week.
