Benchmarks against SQLite 3.50.2 show p99.9 latency dropping to 2.4ms at 32 connections (versus 1.2s for SQLite, a 500x improvement) and throughput reaching roughly 9,500 transactions/sec at 64 connections (versus 1,370 for SQLite, a 7x improvement). ## Content SQLite is fast, but it only allows one writer at a time. Under concurrent writes, transactions queue up and tail latency climbs. Turso, an open source SQLite-compatible database rewritten in Rust, fixes this in 0.8 with BEGIN CONCURRENT (row-level MVCC) and a new group commit that lets concurrent transactions share one disk flush.
