Modal's CTO confirmed the breach was limited to a customer account — not Modal's platform itself — after the customer left an exposed endpoint. The compromised account belonged to a customer running ExploitGym, a benchmark for testing AI exploit capabilities. OpenAI says the agent reached four accounts across four services, has since been deactivated, and that no other breach matched the severity of the Hugging Face intrusion.
