# OpenShot 4.0 released with Qt6 port, colour grading, and recording dock

**[Collections](https://daily.dev/sources/collections)** · 2 min read · 1 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

OpenShot 4.0 has been released with a full migration from Qt5 to Qt6, improving Wayland support and fractional scaling reliability on Linux. The update adds a proper color grading suite with scopes, curve editing, and color wheels, plus a new recording dock for capturing audio, screen, and webcam input directly into the timeline. New effects (Shadow, Glow, Displacement Map, Film Grain) and expanded AI features are included, such as four ComfyUI audio workflows, live mask previews, and YOLOv5 object detection integration. Export improvements add TikTok and Snapchat social media filters, refreshed presets, customizable workspace views, and cleaned-up Windows packaging. Installers are available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

## Content

OpenShot 4.0 is out, and it's a substantial update. The headline change is a full port from Qt5 to Qt6, which brings better Wayland support and more reliable fractional scaling on Linux. Beyond that, the release touches nearly every part of the editor.

## Recording

A new recording dock lets you capture screen, webcam, microphone, and system audio directly into your project timeline without leaving the editor. There's also a dedicated audio recording dock and live multi-resource timeline previews.

## Color grading

OpenShot now has a proper color grading suite: color wheels, curve editing, LUT support, and professional video scopes. It's not just a filter stack — these are the tools you'd expect in a more serious editing workflow.

## AI and machine learning

Four new ComfyUI audio workflows cover de-noise, voice enhancement, upscaling, and repair. The local AI model download UI has been simplified, and the Object Mask tool now shows live mask previews. YOLOv5 is included with a model picker for object detection.

## New effects and presets

New video effects include Shadow, Glow, Displacement Map, and Film Grain (with presets). Animated audio visualizations and cinematic film look effects are also in. Camera and animation presets have been refreshed, and there are new social media export filters for TikTok and Snapchat.

## Other changes

- Customizable workspace views and a new Analysis View
- Improved waveform display
- Better Windows packaging

Installers for Windows, macOS, and Linux are available on GitHub, along with the full release notes.
