Optical Zonu has launched a miniature Ku-band RF-over-fiber (RFoF) transmitter aimed at defense and aerospace platforms with tight space constraints. Measuring about 2.25 × 1.0 inches, the OEM module converts RF signals to optical signals directly at the antenna, replacing coaxial cables with optical fiber to reduce signal attenuation. It supports RF frequencies up to 18 GHz, both 1310-nm and 1550-nm wavelengths, and DWDM for multi-channel transport over a single fiber. Target applications include phased-array radar, SATCOM terminals, electronic warfare, shipboard systems, submarine periscopes, and UAVs. The module operates from -20°C to 65°C with extended temperature options available and is ready for immediate OEM integration.
