The Python Software Foundation has announced the inaugural election for the new Python Packaging Council (PPC), established under PEP 772. The PPC will serve as the technical decision-making body for Python packaging interoperability specifications and coordinate the broader packaging ecosystem. The election fills all five council seats and runs in parallel with the 2026 PSF Board election, with nominations opening July 28th and voting running September 1–15. Eligible voters must be Contributing, Supporting, or Fellow PSF members and affirm their voting intention by August 25th. Candidates should have experience in packaging, community building, and open governance.
