Physicists demonstrate first metro-area quantum computer network in Boston

Harvard physicists have successfully demonstrated a metro-area quantum computer network using existing telecommunication fiber. The network is based on entangling two quantum memory nodes separated by optical fiber, allowing for the transfer of perfectly secure quantum information. The silicon-vacancy center in quantum memory devices helps overcome signal loss in the network. The researchers aim to expand the network by adding nodes and experimenting with more protocols.
