Pinecone has announced an integration between its Nexus knowledge engine and Microsoft OneLake, unveiled at Microsoft Build 2026. Rather than relying on traditional RAG pipelines, Nexus pre-assembles structured, task-specific knowledge artifacts that AI agents can query via KnowQL, Pinecone's proprietary query language. The approach claims to reduce LLM token consumption by over 95%, speed up task execution by up to 30x, and improve completion rates. Nexus connects directly to OneLake without requiring data migration, applies existing enterprise permissions and governance controls, and returns cited, structured responses. The move positions Pinecone beyond its vector database roots toward becoming a foundational knowledge infrastructure platform for enterprise AI agents.
