# Planning an Animation Explainer for a Software Feature

**[C\# Corner](https://daily.dev/sources/csharpcorner)** · 7 min read · 1 upvotes · 1 comments

## Summary

Planning an animation explainer means choosing one user task and matching each spoken line to one screen change before drawing anything. The method pairs one line with one picture showing the result of that action, cropped to only what changes. A six-step process covers writing the task as one sentence, listing steps in order, turning each into one short line, matching lines to pictures, cutting lines that don't change the screen, then reading the script aloud. A worked example scripts inviting a teammate to a workspace in four lines, each tied to one screen state. The guide says such explainers suit first-time use, not reference, and that a feature with many paths should still be taught as one path.

> Cutting every line that doesn't change the screen is the most useful step here, and it also keeps the video easy to maintain. If each line maps to one screen state, then when the invite flow changes later you can tell exactly which lines and pictures are out of date. I'd add one step before drawing anything: capture the real screen states from a test workspace with sample data, even if the final style is simplified, so the animation matches what a first-time user will actually see. And teaching one path is right. The other paths can each get their own short clip.
