Microsoft PowerToys has long served as an unofficial testing ground for Windows features, with several tools eventually making their way into the OS itself. FancyZones likely inspired Windows 11's Snap Layouts, Text Extractor evolved into a more capable Snipping Tool feature, and the Run dialog now borrows logic from Command Palette. The author argues that more PowerToys utilities — like FancyZones, Command Palette, PowerRename, and Image Resizer — should be integrated into Windows 11, and at minimum, PowerToys should ship pre-installed with the OS.
