Microsoft PowerToys' Shortcut Guide feature solves the longstanding discoverability problem with keyboard shortcuts on Windows. Triggered via Windows+Shift+?, it displays a contextual overlay of shortcuts relevant to the currently active application. The feature dynamically detects which program is in use and surfaces only applicable shortcuts, removing the need to Google or memorize them. Users can also extend it by creating YAML manifest files placed in a specific local folder, allowing custom shortcuts to appear in the overlay for any application not yet officially supported.
