## Summary

CopilotKit has released OpenDots, an open-source alternative to OpenAI's Dots feature announced at DevDay. OpenDots lets developers self-host always-on AI coworkers that can work via web and mobile, be mentioned in Slack, and operate through Spaces and Pages. Unlike OpenAI's closed Dots, it supports any OpenAI-compatible model and connects agents through the AG-UI protocol, with computer access disabled by default for safety. Built on CopilotKit, AG-UI, and CopilotKit Intelligence, it's positioned as an early, customizable template for teams to adapt, with an Automatic Learning feature that turns conversations into reusable skills.

> The source's review-and-publish step for Automatic Learning is an important detail: turning a conversation into a skill also turns context-specific choices into instructions for later work. I would want each proposed skill to retain the circumstances where it was useful, rather than only the successful action sequence.

> Anything that keeps people away from Anthropic or OpenAI is a good thing for LLM innovation.
