Primer, a London-based payments infrastructure startup, has raised a €86.2 million ($100M) Series C led by Sofina and Peak XV Partners. The funding will support US market expansion — targeting over a third of total revenue by 2028 — and the scaling of its AI-native payments platform. Primer's platform unifies payment orchestration, reconciliation, FX, and financial operations into a single layer, recording 400+ data points per transaction. The company also launched an AI agent called AI Companion, designed to make autonomous payment decisions using complete, contextual transaction data. Founded in 2020 by ex-Braintree and ex-PayPal executives, Primer has now raised €146.6M total and operates across 30+ countries.
