Prisma raises $4.5M to build a GraphQL access layer for all databases

Prisma (formerly Graphcool) announced a $4.5M seed round led by Kleiner Perkins and rebranded to Prisma. The company is building an open-source GraphQL ORM layer that auto-generates a flexible data access layer for multiple databases, currently supporting MySQL and PostgreSQL. The funding will support team expansion in Berlin and a new San Francisco office, with plans to add support for more databases, cross-database joins, caching, access control, and real-time features.
