SpaceX has appointed South African-born venture capitalist Roelof Botha to its board of directors as an independent common stock director, effective 16 June 2026. Botha, formerly CFO of PayPal under Elon Musk and longtime managing partner at Sequoia Capital, will join the audit committee to support financial oversight as SpaceX transitions to a publicly traded company following its record $75-billion IPO on Nasdaq under ticker SPCX, which pushed its valuation past $2.1 trillion.
