Initially available to select subscribers, Proton Wallet plans to support additional currencies and features in future updates. ## Content # Proton Launches Secure Self-Custodial Bitcoin Wallet Proton, renowned for its secure email, VPN, and storage services, has introduced Proton Wallet, a self-custodial Bitcoin wallet designed to offer users complete control over their digital assets. Featuring end-to-end encryption, the wallet ensures that only users have access to their Bitcoin, providing a high level of security and privacy. Unlike centralized exchanges, Proton Wallet is built to give users exclusive control over their private keys, eliminating any risk of access—even if the company itself is compromised. One of the standout features is the wallet's ability to facilitate Bitcoin transactions using email addresses, making the process as simple as sending an email within the Proton ecosystem. To further enhance security, Proton Wallet incorporates multiple measures, including a unique recovery seed phrase and two-factor authentication. For high-risk users, there is Proton Sentinel, an additional layer of protection. Additionally, Proton Wallet is open-source, inviting transparency and community development. Proton Wallet is initially available through an invite system to Proton Visionary and Lifetime Plan subscribers and will gradually be rolled out to all users.
