Without it, apt silently fails to update Proxmox packages, leaving the system frozen on the ISO version. The fix is straightforward: in the GUI, navigate to Updates > Repositories, disable the two enterprise.proxmox.com sources, and add the no-subscription repo. The Ceph enterprise repo in ceph.sources should also be redirected to the no-subscription equivalent.
