Reddit users discovered that search operators like 'site:claude.ai/share' surfaced many conversations, some containing sensitive data including health records, children's personal information, and confidential company documents. Anthropic attributed the exposure to users who had posted their share links in publicly crawlable places, stating it does not share sitemaps with search engines. The issue appeared remediated by Monday afternoon. This is at least the second such incident involving Claude chats indexed by Google, following a similar event reported by Forbes in 2025.
