## Summary

PwC's 2026 Global Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey, covering 49,364 workers across 48 countries, finds 64% used AI at work in the past year, up 10 points, while daily generative AI use rose from 14% to 22%. Access to needed learning and development resources fell from 59% to 51%. PwC splits workers into four groups: 'front-runners' (14%, scarce skills plus strong AI use), 'AI insurgents' (18%), 'indispensables' (11%), and the largest group, the 'engine room' (56%), who have neither scarce skills nor much AI experience and are least likely to get training. Daily AI users report more job security, trust in management, and confidence in learning new skills than infrequent users. PwC's Peter Brown warns the global workforce risks moving at different speeds. PwC itself is hiring fewer consultants and accountants as it adopts AI.
