The Python Software Foundation has announced the inaugural election for the new Python Packaging Council (PPC), established under PEP 772. The PPC will serve as the technical decision-making body for Python packaging interoperability specifications and coordinate efforts across the packaging ecosystem. The election fills all five council seats and runs in parallel with the 2026 PSF Board election. Nominations open July 28th, with voting from September 1st–15th. PSF Contributing, Supporting, or Fellow members who affirm their voting intention by August 25th are eligible to vote. Candidates should have experience in Python packaging, community building, and open governance.
