Silicon Quantum Computing has launched Quantum Twins, a silicon-based analog quantum simulator now available commercially. Unlike universal quantum computers, this device uses 15,000 quantum dots made from precisely-placed phosphorus atoms to directly simulate complex materials and chemical reactions. The team demonstrated its capability by simulating a metal-insulator transition, a problem classically intractable in intermediate regimes. The technology builds on a 38-stage manufacturing process that places single phosphorus atoms in silicon with sub-nanometer precision, enabling rapid chip design turnaround. Future applications target superconductivity research, magnetism, battery interfaces, and potentially drug discovery.
