It connects via DSI ribbon cable and GPIO power cable, but is limited to Raspberry Pi 5 and compatible Compute Modules with MIPI connectors. Availability is still rolling out in some US retailers. ## Content Raspberry Pi has released a 10.1-inch variant of its Touch Display 2, priced at $80 (£77). It joins the existing 5-inch and 7-inch models, though this one has a few meaningful differences worth knowing about before you order. ## Specs The panel is IPS with a 1200×1920 resolution, 224 PPI, 400 nits brightness, anti-glare coating, and an 85-degree viewing angle. Touch support is 10-point capacitive with up to 35ms response time — up from 5-finger on the smaller variants. There are no built-in speakers. It defaults to portrait orientation, which makes it a natural fit for wall-mounted dashboards, kiosks, and digital signage. ## Compatibility — read this first Unlike the 7-inch display, this one requires a 4-lane DSI port. That means it only works with the Raspberry Pi 5 and compatible Compute Modules. Pi 4 and earlier are not supported. Connection is straightforward: a DSI ribbon cable carries data, and a GPIO cable handles power. Two connections total. ## Setup On Raspberry Pi OS, the display boots in portrait mode with touch working immediately. One caveat that came up in hands-on testing: a firmware (EEPROM) update was needed before the display was recognized at all, so run `sudo rpi-eeprom-update` before assuming something is broken. An OS update was also needed to fix orientation switching — without it, rotating the display would move the image but leave touch input mapped to the wrong axis. After updating, the OS supports four orientation modes and two touch modes (Mouse Emulation and Multitouch), both configurable from the Control Centre. ## Mounting Raspberry Pi doesn't include a wall-mount solution in the box. One option that's worked well in practice: a custom 3D-printed VESA mount adapter, designed in Blender and printed in PLA. It's not a polished out-of-the-box experience, but it gets the display on a wall cleanly enough. For software, Home Assistant dashboards running through Touch Kiosk (an open-source kiosk browser) is a common use case and works well in portrait mode. ## Availability Raspberry Pi has committed to keeping this in production until at least January 2030.
