Avalonia 12.0 has been released, marking a major foundational update to the cross-platform .NET UI framework. Key highlights include up to 1,867% FPS improvement in complex scenes, 3x Android performance gains (startup time dropping from 1,960ms to 460ms with NativeAOT), and the first native Linux accessibility backend (AT-SPI2) in any .NET framework. The release ships a built-in page-based navigation system (ContentPage, DrawerPage, CarouselPage, TabbedPage), themeable client-side window decorations, an overhauled focus management system, and improved dispatcher APIs closer to WPF conventions. The WebView component has been open-sourced. Wayland support groundwork is laid and in private preview. The codebase has been cleaned up by targeting .NET 10 and SkiaSharp 3.0, removing netstandard2.0, Direct2D1, Tizen, and Blazor support. Hundreds of bug fixes are included. The team has grown to 19 people backed by a $3M Devolutions sponsorship.
