The key addition is a CSS-compatible animation and transition API, allowing developers to write CSS-style animations using JavaScript objects and bring them into React Native with minimal friction. Reanimated 4 requires the React Native New Architecture (Fabric) but remains fully backward-compatible with Reanimated 3 — existing worklet-based APIs, shared values, and layout animations are preserved and will continue to be maintained. The release also includes an online CSS-to-Reanimated translator tool and interactive docs.
