Alon Haimovich, Microsoft Israel's country general manager, has left the company following an internal investigation into alleged unethical use of Azure by Israel's Ministry of Defense. The investigation, conducted by Microsoft's global management team, focused on concerns that Israel's sales department violated Microsoft's code of ethics and terms of use in a non-transparent manner, exposing the company to legal and regulatory risks in Europe. Several other managers in Microsoft Israel's governance department also departed, and Microsoft France will temporarily oversee Microsoft Israel. This follows Microsoft's September announcement that it had found evidence supporting Guardian reporting and subsequently ceased some Azure services to the Israeli Ministry of Defense amid allegations of surveillance of Palestinians.
