# [RFC] Deprecations for PHP 8.6

**[externals.io](https://daily.dev/sources/externals)** · 3 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Gina P. Banyard has announced the RFC for deprecations planned for PHP 8.6, compiled over the past year by multiple contributors. Each deprecation will be voted on individually, and the RFC must be finalized by July 13th. A follow-up from Nicolas Grekas asks for clarification on the proposed deprecation of CURLOPT_PROGRESSFUNCTION for curl_setopt(). Juliette Reinders Folmer raises a concern that none of the proposals include a proper impact analysis, calling it irresponsible for voters, and offers to help create one using PHP_CodeSniffer and PHPCompatibility.
