Rice University and the Max Planck Society have launched Q-RaMP (Quantum Materials – Rice and Max Planck Partnership), a formal research collaboration aimed at discovering and developing quantum materials. The partnership will operate through joint workshops, shared faculty appointments, graduate student exchange programs, and collaborative working groups spanning multiple Max Planck institutes. The goal is to identify materials with properties that could advance quantum technologies, energy efficiency, sustainability, and information processing — a challenge described as finding a needle in a haystack given the vast theoretical landscape.
