Why bother with this instead of focusing on another already existing object storage with a sensible license? Fear of having to go through this all over?

Does “drop-in replacement” cover existing bucket policies and clients, or just the S3 API?

Restoring the console and docs solves the immediate usability gap, but the long-term test will be governance and security maintenance. A clear release cadence, responsible disclosure process, and compatibility policy would make it much easier for self-hosters to trust the fork.

This is how idiotic managers move their product from the #1 pole position into unpopularity and uselessness. Goodbye, MiniIO. Hello, Silo.
