# Run Codex in the cloud – DigitalOcean for Codex is now available

**[DigitalOcean](https://daily.dev/sources/do)** · 3 min read · 1 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

DigitalOcean has launched a Codex plugin in Public Preview that lets developers provision persistent cloud development machines (Droplets) directly from within OpenAI's Codex using natural language. The plugin connects via OAuth, automatically provisions a Droplet pre-configured with Codex CLI and common language tooling, sets up SSH keys, and returns a deeplink to finalize the connection — no manual server setup required. Once connected, developers can manage projects, install dependencies, spin up or shut down machines, and even monitor long-running agent tasks from the ChatGPT mobile app.
