The first operational phase targets 288–292 satellites, with a longer-term goal of ~900 by the mid-2030s. In March 2026, 16 operational satellites were launched following earlier test programmes. Advertised speeds range from 50 Mbps to 1 Gbps across 70+ countries, with potential demand of up to 12 million global subscribers. Funding includes ~$1.26bn from the Russian government and ~$4bn from Bureau 1440 itself. The 2027 deadline has already slipped once, and the constellation still needs to clear 250 satellites before commercial service can begin.
