Sailfish OS is Linux on a phone for people who don't want Linux on a phone, and I love it

Sailfish OS stands out among Linux-on-phone projects because it was designed for mobile from the ground up, requiring no terminal use while still offering one. Its gesture-based UI is unique and cohesive, drawing loose comparisons to Windows Phone but with its own paradigms. The main drawbacks are limited device support (primarily Jolla hardware), a fragmented app ecosystem, and an Android compatibility layer that works but has gaps around location and payment apps. Despite these limitations, Sailfish OS is presented as the best current blueprint for what mainstream Linux on a phone could look like.
