# Salesforce launches Koa, its first CRM reasoning model, built on NVIDIA's Nemotron

**[Collections](https://daily.dev/sources/collections)** · 3 min read · 3 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Salesforce unveiled Koa, its first in-house reasoning model, built by post-training NVIDIA's open-weight Nemotron 3 Super on nearly 30 years of proprietary CRM data. Designed for sales, marketing, and customer-support tasks, Koa reportedly matches or beats frontier models on CRM-specific actions with about three times fewer errors, while Salesforce keeps the weights and runs inference on its own infrastructure with no customer data used in training. Salesforce picked Nemotron over alternatives like Qwen for data provenance reasons and used NVIDIA's NeMo RL, NeMo Gym, and NeMo AutoModel tooling. Koa already runs internally as a Slack agent, with customer pilots starting in October (Formula 1, UChicago Medicine, Baxter Credit Union, 1-800Accountant, Engine, Xero) and general availability targeted for winter 2026. Salesforce also announced a ClaudeForce partnership with Anthropic using Claude as an interface while keeping data in-house.

## What happened

At Dreamforce 2026, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff dismissed what he called "crazy nonsense" talk of a "SaaSpocalypse" and unveiled a cluster of new products. The centerpiece is Koa, Salesforce's first in-house reasoning model, built alongside Nvidia. Jensen Huang joined Benioff on stage to argue that AI sits on top of software rather than replacing it.

## Koa: how it was built

Koa starts from Nvidia's open-weight Nemotron 3 Super 120B model. Salesforce post-trained it using a synthetic dataset generated from 27 years of CRM deployment data, without using any real customer data in training or inference. Salesforce owns the weights and runs the model entirely on its own infrastructure.

The training method is worth noting. Salesforce took Agent Script specifications - the declarative files that define Agentforce agents - and expanded them into multi-turn tasks with simulated user personas. A reward function checks whether the agent resolved each task with the correct tool calls, and training uses GRPO.

The gains are modest but consistent:

- **Tau2Bench:** 69.41 vs. 68.64 for the base Nemotron and 54.48 for GPT-4.1
- **CRM Bench:** 0.86, close to Claude Opus 4.8 at 0.87
- **Function-call accuracy:** up from 0.71 to 0.77

Salesforce claims three times fewer errors than leading models on its own CRM Bench. Koa already powers an internal Slack employee agent. Customer pilots begin in October with Formula 1, UChicago Medicine, Baxter Credit Union, 1-800Accountant, Engine, and Xero. General availability in US regions is expected in winter 2026.

Salesforce chose Nemotron specifically because it needed a sovereign, pre-trained base model with clear data provenance - explicitly contrasting it with alternatives like Alibaba's Qwen.

## AIforce: three surfaces

Beyond Koa, Salesforce announced AIforce, described as a live interface layer that brings Salesforce data, workflows, and permissions into AI interfaces and agents. It spans three products:

- **Claudeforce** - Salesforce inside Claude via MCP, with 37+ sales skills. Customer data stays inside Salesforce's own infrastructure.
- **Slackforce** - Slack CRM, Slackbot, and Slack Code
- **Agentforce Coworker** - an in-app AI teammate that reached 100,000 users in its first 35 days

## Other announcements

Salesforce also announced Ace, a TSA travel agent that resolves 96% of routine traveler questions. New partnerships were announced with Siemens, AWS, and Google Cloud.

## The broader point

If your company already describes its workflows in a structured format, those descriptions could potentially serve as RL environments for fine-tuning - which is essentially what Salesforce did here. The Koa approach suggests a practical path for enterprises with large structured workflow libraries to build domain-specific models without touching real customer data.

## Questions this post answers

### What model is Salesforce's new Koa reasoning model built on?

Koa is built by post-training NVIDIA's open-weight Nemotron 3 Super model on nearly three decades of proprietary Salesforce CRM data. Salesforce chose Nemotron over alternatives like Alibaba's Qwen mainly for its clear data provenance, using NVIDIA's NeMo RL, NeMo Gym, and NeMo AutoModel tooling for training. Salesforce controls the weights and runs it on its own infrastructure.

_Teams evaluating domain-specific model strategies can follow enterprise AI build decisions like this one on daily.dev._

### When will Salesforce's Koa model be generally available and who is testing it first?

Customer pilots for Koa begin in October with Formula 1, UChicago Medicine, Baxter Credit Union, 1-800Accountant, Engine, and Xero, with general availability in U.S. regions expected in winter 2026. Koa already runs internally as a Slack employee agent and can be routed through Salesforce's Agentforce AI gateway.

_Anyone tracking enterprise AI rollout timelines can follow Koa's pilot-to-GA path on daily.dev._

### Does Salesforce's Koa model use customer data for training?

No, Koa does not use customer data in training or inference. It was post-trained on nearly three decades of Salesforce's own proprietary CRM data, with the model weights controlled by Salesforce and run on its own infrastructure, addressing data-sharing concerns that make some enterprises cautious about sending sensitive CRM data to third-party APIs.

_Developers weighing data isolation tradeoffs in AI adoption can track cases like Koa on daily.dev._
