It handles backups, security patching, version upgrades, high availability, and storage autoscaling. The service runs the unmodified open-source Weaviate engine (v1.37.1) with full API compatibility via GraphQL, REST, and gRPC — no proprietary SDK required. RQ8 compression is enabled by default, reducing RAM usage by ~4x per vector. New features include auto version upgrades, cluster forking, insights and logs, credential rotation, and TLS by default.
