Canonical and NVIDIA announced a collaboration to package NVIDIA OpenShell as a snap on Ubuntu, previewed at COMPUTEX 2026. OpenShell is an open source runtime that governs how autonomous AI agents access resources like files, networks, and tools, running each agent in an isolated sandbox with enforced corporate policies. Delivering it as a snap enables one-command installation, automated updates, and strict workload isolation across NVIDIA hardware from edge workstations to data center DGX systems. Installation requires just two commands: installing the snap and creating a sandbox.
