# Securing wireless communication in next-generation devices

**[MIT News](https://daily.dev/sources/mit)** · 6 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

MIT researchers built a room-temperature device that generates pairs of highly correlated microwave signals using magnetic films inside a metal cavity, eliminating the need for cryogenically cooled superconducting circuits like Josephson junctions. The hybrid magnon-photon system splits an incoming photon into two synchronized signals with distinct frequencies, enabling secure communications where information encoded in one signal can only be decoded with its correlated partner. The team demonstrated this by encoding and successfully recovering an image. Potential applications include noise-resilient communication, quantum radar, high-precision sensing, and cheaper, more scalable quantum simulators for drug and materials discovery.
