Serve Robotics has partnered with Grubhub (via a deal with parent company Wonder) to deliver food orders in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Alexandria, Virginia, joining its existing partnerships with Uber Eats and DoorDash. The company now operates over 2,000 delivery robots across the US, reaching about three million people and 4,000 restaurants. It also expanded DoorDash coverage to Washington DC and San Jose, is testing low-cost 'micro-depots' for expansion, and has diversified into hospital robotics after acquiring Diligent Robotics, maker of the Moxi robot. Serve is positioning itself as neutral delivery infrastructure that all major food-delivery platforms can plug into, though profitability remains unproven.
