# Sharkfin Bites Attack Shark

**[Hackaday](https://daily.dev/sources/hackaday)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

JR Lanteigne reverse-engineered the proprietary configuration protocol used by Attack Shark keyboards (and 522+ rebranded variants built on ROYUAN hardware) after finding the official software was Windows-only. By patching the Electron-based config app to run on Linux and logging configuration sessions, he mapped out the full protocol — navigating challenges like two firmware generations and flash-write boot loops. The result is Sharkfin, an open web app that lets users configure their keyboards on any platform. The protocol is also fully documented on GitHub.
