# Shopify App Pricing: Plan Feature Targeting

**[Shopify Developer changelog](https://daily.dev/sources/shopifychangelog)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Shopify App Pricing now lets developers add store requirements to public plans. Merchants whose stores lack a required feature can't subscribe to that plan. The two available requirements are checkout UI extensions with branding customizations on every checkout page, and direct company catalogs for B2B. Shopify checks these requirements both on the plan selection page and when the merchant approves the charge. This feature only applies to public plans, not private plans or Billing API charges, and it doesn't affect existing subscriptions unless they're cancelled and the merchant tries to resume.

## Questions this post answers

### How do I prevent merchants from subscribing to a Shopify app plan if their store doesn't support a required feature?

Use the new Store requirements section in the Shopify App Pricing plan editor for public plans. You can require checkout UI extensions with branding customizations on every checkout page, or direct company catalogs for B2B. Shopify blocks the select button on the plan selection page and rechecks at charge approval for stores lacking the feature.

### Do Shopify App Pricing store requirements affect merchants who already subscribed to a plan?

No, existing subscriptions are not changed when requirements are added or modified to a plan. A merchant with an active subscription keeps their plan even after you add a requirement it doesn't meet. However, if that subscription is cancelled, the merchant must meet the current requirements to resume the plan.

### Can I add store requirements to private Shopify app plans or Billing API charges?

No, store requirements are available only on public plans in Shopify App Pricing. They are not supported on private plans or on charges created directly through the Billing API, and visitors not logged in to the Shopify App Store continue to see all public plans regardless of requirements.
