Silicon Labs Delivers its Lowest-Power Bluetooth LE SoC

Silicon Labs has launched the BG2B, its lowest-power Bluetooth LE SoC in the Series 2 lineup, targeting battery-powered IoT devices. It delivers 14–15% lower MCU active current and 1.1-µA EM2 sleep current compared to its predecessor, enabled by a dual-output DC/DC power architecture and multi-core design. The chip supports Bluetooth 6 with Channel Sounding (Mode 3, NADM, Inline PCT) for precise ranging, meeting Apple and Google specifications. Integrated peripherals include CAN-FD for vehicle/industrial diagnostics, dual 12-bit ADCs, LED driver circuitry, and expanded memory — reducing BOM cost and PCB area. Security is covered by Secure Vault High with PSA Level 3 compliance, supporting EU Cyber Resilience Act requirements. Target applications include asset tracking, ESLs, smart locks, wearables, and fleet management. The BG2B is currently in early customer engagement, with production hardware planned for 2027.
