# Six Labors : Announcing ImageSharp 4.1.0

**[Six Labors : ImageSharp](https://daily.dev/sources/sixlabors)** · 6 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

ImageSharp 4.1.0 has shipped with a complete Windows ANI animated cursor codec, seven new premultiplied pixel formats plus RgbaHalf, and the full W3C blend mode set (ColorDodge, ColorBurn, SoftLight, Difference, Exclusion, Hue, Saturation, Color, Luminosity, plus a Plus alpha composition mode). The SIMD layer was rebuilt on System.Numerics.Tensors.TensorPrimitives with AVX-512 paths, delivering up to 14.9x faster kernel operations and a 40.7% smaller managed assembly. The release also adds Apple CgBI PNG decoding, removes GraphicsOptions.AntialiasThreshold in favor of exact binary coverage, adds configurable single-buffer memory allocator limits, and fixes numerous decoder issues across TIFF, GIF, ICO, PBM, PPM, and EXIF handling. Target framework and license terms remain unchanged.

## Questions this post answers

### What's new in ImageSharp 4.1.0?

ImageSharp 4.1.0 adds a complete Windows animated cursor (ANI) codec, seven premultiplied pixel formats plus a new RgbaHalf format, and the full W3C blend mode set including ColorDodge, ColorBurn, SoftLight, Difference, Exclusion, Hue, Saturation, Color, and Luminosity. It also rebuilds SIMD on TensorPrimitives with AVX-512 paths, decodes Apple CgBI PNGs, and hardens several format decoders.

_Track library releases like ImageSharp updates as they land using daily.dev._

### How much faster is ImageSharp's SIMD after moving to TensorPrimitives in 4.1.0?

Kernel operations run up to 14.9x faster after ImageSharp 4.1.0 rebuilt its SIMD layer on System.Numerics.Tensors.TensorPrimitives. Histogram addition over 65,536 elements dropped from 24.43 μs to 1.64 μs, and ICC byte LUT normalization went from 145.2 ns to 10.0 ns, with zero managed allocation across all measured operations. The managed assembly also shrank 40.7%, from 4,100,608 to 2,433,024 bytes.

_Developers optimizing image pipelines can follow SIMD and performance benchmarks like these on daily.dev._

### What happened to GraphicsOptions.AntialiasThreshold in ImageSharp?

GraphicsOptions.AntialiasThreshold was removed in ImageSharp 4.1.0. When Antialias is false, coverage is now exact, meaning a pixel is either fully covered or not covered with nothing to tune. Existing code that sets AntialiasThreshold should simply delete that assignment; no other migration action is required.

_Keep up with breaking API changes like this one in ImageSharp on daily.dev before they hit your build._
