SkiaSharp 4.148.0 is the first stable release of SkiaSharp v4, the cross-platform 2D graphics library for .NET. Key highlights include an updated Skia engine at milestone m148 (bringing years of upstream rendering, performance, and security improvements), full OpenType variable font axis control, color font palettes, animated WebP encoding via SKWebpEncoder, and a cleaner API with fixed object lifecycle and use-after-free crashes. GPU-accelerated rendering of shadowed cards and layered surfaces is up to 24% faster than v3, and Perlin-noise shaders run ~6x faster on CPU. The release also introduces a predictable dual-channel release cadence (Stable and Preview) aligned with Chrome's Skia milestones. The next preview, 4.150.0 Preview 2, is already available and introduces the Graphite next-gen GPU backend. The release is a joint effort between the .NET team and Uno Platform.
