Slate scopes product ideas around users, not infrastructure

Slate, a B2B investment platform, replaced a Redis-based architecture that caused outages during volatile market opens with Tinybird's managed ClickHouse service. The old system pre-computed prices and P&L into Redis cache, which created hot-key contention and multi-second tail latencies at peak. By migrating to Tinybird, Slate reduced p99 latency to under 200ms, handles hundreds of millions of daily events, cut costs compared to their Redis cluster, and eliminated volatility-related pages. The shift also removed Spring Boot code rather than adding infrastructure, and freed the team to expand their asset universe and onboard B2B partners without infrastructure constraints.
