Grafana Assistant is an AI agent inside Grafana Cloud that helps teams bake observability into software development from the planning stage rather than bolting it on after incidents. It lets engineers describe what they want in plain language and get PromQL/LogQL queries, live dashboard panels, and service dependency maps without needing deep observability expertise. Two key workflows are covered: onboarding onto existing systems by querying the Knowledge Graph to understand service dependencies and gaps, and planning new services by using RED/USE methodologies to decide what to instrument before writing code. MCP server integrations with GitHub, Jira, and PagerDuty extend context across the full stack. Custom reusable Skills (slash commands) can encode these workflows for the whole team, turning painful onboarding into a repeatable process.
