A session from Microsoft's Build conference where Betsy Weber and Fernanda Sariva explain the Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional) program. The program has over 4,000 members across 96 countries and 30+ years of history. MVPs are community leaders who share technical expertise about Microsoft products voluntarily, not as part of their jobs. Benefits include NDA access to product roadmaps, invites to the annual MVP Summit in Redmond, and a global network of peers. To become an MVP, candidates must be nominated by a Microsoft employee or existing MVP, and are evaluated on technical expertise, community leadership, and contributions. Microsoft employees are not eligible. The three key steps are: be an expert, do what you love, and let Microsoft know.
