At SoftBank's annual shareholders' meeting in Tokyo, Masayoshi Son dismissed AI bubble concerns as an insult, calling such talk blasphemy and labeling skeptics as 'not smart enough.' Son asked shareholders for another 10–15 years to pursue artificial superintelligence, predicting the AI revolution is 50x bigger than the dot-com boom and could run 50–100 years. SoftBank's cumulative bet on OpenAI has reached $64.6bn (~13% ownership), funded partly by a $40bn bridge loan. S&P has lowered its outlook on SoftBank's credit due to OpenAI exposure risks. Son also named humanoid and industrial robotics as the next trillion-dollar industry, predicting superintelligence will add at least 10% to global GDP. The company amended its articles of incorporation to formally include AI, semiconductors, robotics, and data centres as business purposes.
