Omdia's 2026 research report reveals that 77% of organizations experienced a software supply chain incident in the past year. AI tech now tops supply chain risk concerns (40%), ahead of third-party code (39%) and software dependencies (38%). Nearly half of organizations lack robust supply chain security. Key findings highlight the growing role of SBOMs — which help with vulnerability mitigation (73%), security controls (72%), and compliance (68%) — though only 42% generate them mandatorily. Secure container images were rated the most effective tool by a majority (51%). Shifting security left is a high priority for 98% of organizations, with developers increasingly on the front line. Nearly two-thirds of orgs plan significant investment in supply chain security.
