# SomDevices, Celus Bring μSMARC Modules to Design Platform

**[Embedded.com](https://daily.dev/sources/embedded-com)** · 3 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

SomDevices and Celus have partnered to bring seven μSMARC system-on-module configurations, based on NXP i.MX 8M Plus, i.MX 91, i.MX 93, and i.MX 8M Mini processors, to the CELUS Design Platform as reusable CUBOs. These provide engineers with technical specs, schematic context, interface details, and bill-of-materials data to speed carrier-board design for embedded Linux applications in industrial, medical, transportation, and edge AI markets. Completed designs can be exported to Altium Designer, KiCad, Siemens EDA, and Autodesk Fusion. The seven CUBOs are in development and scheduled for availability on the CELUS platform in Q4 2026.

## Questions this post answers

### What processors are used in the SomDevices μSMARC system-on-modules being added to the CELUS Design Platform?

The μSMARC modules are based on NXP i.MX processors, covering four families: i.MX 8M Plus, i.MX 91, i.MX 93, and i.MX 8M Mini. The i.MX 8M Plus, i.MX 91, and i.MX 93 will each be offered in full and no-Wi-Fi configurations, while the i.MX 8M Mini ships only in its full configuration, giving seven total module variants.

_Engineers comparing i.MX-based SOM options can follow hardware platform updates like this on daily.dev._

### When will the μSMARC CUBOs be available on the CELUS Design Platform?

The seven μSMARC CUBOs are currently in development and are scheduled to become available on the CELUS Design Platform in the fourth quarter of 2026. A reference project based on the SomDevices SMARC carrier board is also planned to accompany the release.

_Teams planning carrier-board work around these modules can track the rollout timeline on daily.dev._
