# Some Broadcom V3D Graphics Support On Path For Removed Over Lack Of Testing

**[Phoronix](https://daily.dev/sources/phoronix)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Broadcom V3D 3.3 and V3D 4.1 graphics IP, found in BCM7268 and BCM7278 SoCs respectively, is being deprecated from the Linux V3D kernel driver. Igalia's Maíra Canal submitted a patch to emit deprecation warnings at probe time, with full removal scheduled for the next kernel release. The rationale is that Mesa dropped userspace support for these GPU generations in 2024 due to lack of testing, the hardware is unavailable for purchase, maintainers don't own it, and no known users remain. If the patch lands in Linux v7.2, removal would follow in v7.3.
