# Someone got Super Mario 64 running on the SNES using the Super FX chip

**[XDA Developers](https://daily.dev/sources/xda-developers)** · 2 min read · 2 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

A YouTuber known as Game of Tob has managed to port Super Mario 64 to run on the SNES by leveraging the Super FX chip, the same coprocessor that powered games like Star Fox. The engine had to be reworked and levels aggressively culled to fit the hardware's limits, resulting in chunkier but recognizable assets. This follows the same creator's earlier feat of running Minecraft on the SNES, including a working mini Nether. The project isn't released yet; a download will come once it's polished and stable.
